Review SQL Pocket Guide (Pocket References) by Jonathan Gennick

Pros: excellent, concise book

Cons: not for beginners

This book SQL Pocket Guide (Pocket References) is written by Jonathan Gennick who is an O'Reilly Media, Inc. editor specializing in database and programming titles. He writes extensively on database topics, and is the author of such successful books as: Oracle SQL*Plus: The Definitive Guide, Oracle SQL*Plus Pocket Reference, and Oracle SQL*Loader: The Definitive Guide. This book SQL pocket guide is a major help to programmers, database administrators, and everyone who uses SQL in their day-to-day work.

The SQL Pocket Guide is a concise reference to frequently used SQL statements and commonly used SQL functions.

Not just an endless collection of syntax diagrams, this portable guide addresses the language's complexity head on and leads by example. Though this is an excellently written book but the major problem with this book is that this book is rather for those people who have the basic knowledge of SQL and wants to improve their command on this language, but for a novice the information provided in this book is insufficient.
